What I've Learned...

Over the course of the semester, I've learned quite a bit about arguments. That's the one word I will always link to this class, "arguments." Something I hate doing. I don't like to argue. Yet, it doesn't hurt to learn how to do it right.

I've learned how to recognize how an argument is formed, and what good arguments are based off of. I've learned what not to say in an argument, things that make your position seem weak or inaccurate. I've learned the sneaky tactics that advertisers use to gain attention towards their products. I've learned how to better communicate and work with a group, even when the only communication is via the internet.

So what has this class taught me? It's taught me how to structure arguments in a better way, as well as give me plenty of tools to prove points that I'm sure will come in handy in school or somewhere else down the road.

  1. I actually love to argue, myself, but that's beside the point. I found it kind of surprising that you said you hated arguments, because I think you're talking about the traditional definition of arguing, where two people yell (or more!) yell at each other, while the book is defining an argument as "an attempt to convince someone (possibly yourself) that a particular, called the conclusion, is true." (5, Epstein) Basically you use words to persuade someone to a certain idea. Anyways, "I used to worry about the future, but then I threw my caution to the wind. I had no reason to be care free...until I took a trip to the other side of town...I had no choice but to get down down down down...nothing left for me to do but dance." (Jamiroquai, Canned Heat)

  2. I also find fun in arguing but only when the argument is not about a serious subject. Serious arguments are inevitable though so learning how to do it right will help you in the future. I have always thought i argued well but after taking this course I have realized that there are a lot of flaws in my logic sometimes. I was not aware that there was a right way to construct and deconstruct arguments. I absolutely agree on your point about knowing what NOT to say during an argument. This can make and break an argument. I also have learned a great deal about how advertisers use sneaky tactics.

  3. Having your own house is the dream of every person. For a middle class person, it is considered as a lifetime achievement as it requires quite a huge amount of money. Banks play a pivotal role in fulfilling this basic need. The products they offer and the services they provide are of immense use to people who intend to have their own house. For a safe and beneficial home loan, proper awareness over the products, policies, terms and conditions of the bank is most important as ignorance may result in more payments to the bank in terms of principal and interest components.
But working with Mr Pedro changed everything in the lending experience, Mr Pedro helped me with a home loan at 2% rate which was very fast and smooth.
I will recommend Mr Pedro a loan officer and his awesome funding company Email Mr Pedro on pedroloanss@gmail.com.
